This was a joy to make. She sent me the OM pendant and told me she wanted something black & silver, elegant, and with crystals. I used several different sizes of matte black onyx rounds, seamless sterling silver beads, antiqued corrugated sterling silver beads, sterling silver rondelles, various jet black swarovski crystals, and a sterling silver hook and eye clasp. It came together fairly easily, gotta love it when the "flow" is with you. =) She is excited about it just from the pictures, so I expect she'll love it even more when it is around her neck.
I discovered jewelry making in my mid-teens, around that age when girls start worrying about being "pretty" I suppose. It started as a hobby of making simple bead earrings and hemp macrame necklaces but quickly steamrolled into a full blown addiction. I moved on to stringing necklaces, bracelets and anklets. Soon after I discovered seed beads. At first I had NO idea what to even do with them other than use them as spacer beads. But then I discovered peyote (or gourd) stitch and I was absolutely hooked. It was (and still is) amazing to me that you can put these little tiny things together to create something more beautiful than the sum of its parts.
I take my "addiction" pretty seriously...I pay close attention to details and weave each bead with love. If I am feeling grumpy or sad I do NOT bead, as I believe that energy can seep into the piece I am creating. Luckily I'm a pretty happy person and have a wonderful loving husband who understands and helps support me in my artistic endeavors.
