First of all, I'd like to thank everyone for their kind words and encouragement...it really helped lessen the blow.
Things have been worked out between the other person and myself. They aquired the pattern from someone at a gathering and had no idea mine even existed. One look for herself though, and she was pretty sure that her gathering friend copied the pattern from me.
She has since removed offending items, and was very kind and accomidating about the whole situation. I'm glad that it worked out.
I don't know exactly what I can do to protect myself in the future...you want a photo to represent detail, and I can't zoom in too close and detailed without giving away the pattern, essentially.
Oui.

The only thing I can suggest is to put a note on any flyers you have and to put a note at the top of your blog. Carol Dean of Sandfibers has a note on her blog and I've put a "copyright" button on my blog, though that mostly covers the posts themselves. Any mention of copyright could keep someone from stealing your work.
Well I am glad it worked out for you. I am curious are your patterns copyrighted? Under the law you most certainly would be protected from infringement rights, if you do. At least it all worked out, and yes I agree you want great photo shots, but dont want people stealing your designs. Maybe a card in the picture that says this design belongs to, and then maybe that will help to protect your designs.
I am so glad it all worked out for you. I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
:) This is off topic But I stopped by to let you know that I added your Blog to my Entrecard drop list. It is comprised entirely of artists, designers, hobbyists, and crafters.
I love your blog and am hoping you don't mind that I added it to the line-up!
If you would like to use the list in your daily campaign feel free to add the banner to your page for a quick link to the list.
Thanks and Happy Creating :)

I am glad that it all got worked out. It is the chance that all of us take that post our stuff on the internet.
I know my photos have been copied but what can we do?
At least as photographers and artists we can prove by the date we took the picture and loaded it into our PC.
Anna is right also about displaying a copyright button and disclosing your policy. It won't solve all problems but it might keep some away.
Glad it worked out well for you.
It is not surprising if she did not know - I am always afraid I am inadvetently going to make something too similar to someone else b/c I just happened to see it someplace & it stuck in my head...granted, in this case it goes beyond that due to the intricacy of the pattern.
Copyright is a tough one - I've read up on it quite a bit & am still confused with which is protected when - pattern, actual object, or what.
Best of luck figuring it all out.
